Four Seasons - a journey through colour & shadow
A textile exhibition by Laura Jordan
The year begins with spring, in a glorious flood of new growth, in gentle soft shades.
Summer explodes onto the stage in a riot of colour.
Autumn glides across the stage in regal golds and burgundies.
Then Winter comes, with the browns of the end of the cycle softened with the glamour of winter sparkle, suggested in warm metallics.
The seasons unite in a wonderful marriage of colour, in the final piece of the show - Four Seasons.
Draw, Design & Create
Farmleigh, Dublin. May 2014
Floral Shadows was the centrepiece of Laura's part in this show. This striking art work with its subtle soft colours exploding forwards from the plain white frame was a show stopper. By the end of the show, Laura had sold her pieces, and was commissioned for more.
In branching out from the success of Floral Shadows, Laura explored a number of paths. Floral Shadows was part of this exploration, as was "Fabric of Life" - a woman’s journey through her life told through the clothes worn at each life stage. It was the exploration of the cycle of life in this piece and experimenting with new colours that led to the Four Seasons theme.
